One-pot synthesis of 2-aminoquinazolinones through sequential microwave irradiation and electrosynthesis

When Miss Khuyen T. Nguyen, a Ph.D. student, posed a simple question: “Why don’t we combine Microwave Chemistry and Electrosynthesis into a one-pot process?” 🤔💡As it turns out, this simple idea led to a much faster way to build compound libraries. 👏

The work resulted in the development of a one-pot sequential microwave electrosynthesis strategy for the rapid synthesis of biologically relevant 2-aminoquinazolin-4(3H)-ones. By combining the speed and energy efficiency of microwave heating with oxidant-free electrochemical oxidation, the method enables the rapid preparation of diverse compound libraries in a streamlined workflow. Fewer purification steps, no stoichiometric oxidizing reagents, and faster access to molecules for medicinal chemistry screening. 🧪💊👏
