Novel Flavonoid Analogs: Promising Anti-Dengue Agents

The research group from Asst. Prof. Dr. Tanatorn Khotavivattana and Asst. Prof. Dr. Warinthorn Chavasiri from the Center of Excellence in Natural Product, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, together with their collaborators successfully designed and synthesized novel analogs of flavonoids for their potential use as anti-dengue agents. The most potent analog exhibited over 300-fold increase in the dengue viral inhibition with low toxicity towards normal cell. The use of computer-aided drug discovery (CADD) such as molecular docking, molecular dynamic, ADMET properties prediction, QSAR model led to the discovery of potential drug targets such as NS5 MTase and NS5 RdRp, and also provided valuable insights for the further development in the future.
