Our team developed a special solvent called a Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES) — made from harmless, low-toxicity chemicals — to extract lithium quickly and selectively from battery waste.
This DES is hydrophobic, works at room temperature, takes only 30 seconds, and can be reused up to 5 times. Unlike conventional toxic solvents, our DES is safer, greener, and just as powerful. This innovation could be a key step toward eco-friendly lithium recovery and sustainable battery recycling!
