Professor Dr. Sanong Ekgasit and team from Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University won 6 innovation awards and 1 special prize at the 48th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva held in Geneva, Switzerland from April 26-30, 2023. The awards included 2 Gold Medals; (1) Aragoshine: Glittering Bio-Calcium Carbonate and (2) Hyacinth Nanocrystals: cellulose nanocrystals from hyacinth. They also won 4 Silver Medals; (1) Aragonano: Nano Bio-Calcium Carbonate from Wasted Green Mussel, (2) Pearl Sand: Glittering Sand from Wasted Green Mussel Shells, (3) CERO: AI for Carbon Footprint Recognition and Accreditation, and (4) Mobile Gout Viewer: Cross-Polarized Smartphone Microscope for Gout Crystal Classification. In addition, AragoShine also received the “Outstanding Innovation Award for excellent effort in creating invention at the 48th International Exhibition of Inventions GENEVA” from the Saudi Delegation to Geneva. All innovations align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
